If you're locked out of your Tapcheck account because you can't receive a verification code on your old number — whether you got a new number, lost access to your old phone, or simply need to update your phone number — this article walks you through each step to get back in without contacting support
What You'll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- The email address associated with your Tapcheck account
- A government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.)
- Access to your new mobile phone number (must be able to receive text messages)
Steps to Update Your Phone Number
Step 1: Click on Update Phone Number
- Open the Tapcheck app.
- On the login screen, tap Update Phone Number.
- Already on the verification code screen? Tap Update Phone Number.
Step 2: Find Your Account
- Enter the email address associated with your Tapcheck account.
- Tap Continue.
- If your information isn't found, double-check what you entered and try again.
Step 3: Verify Your Identity
- Review the on-screen instructions, then tap Start Verification.
- Use your device camera to scan your government-issued photo ID.
- The scan takes about 2–3 minutes.
- Your information is encrypted and secure.
- You do not need to enter any additional information.
Step 4: Update Your Phone Number
- Enter your new phone number in the New Phone Number field.
- Re-enter your phone number in the Confirm Phone Number field.
- Tap Continue.
- A notification will be sent to the email address on your account confirming your phone number is being updated.
Step 5: Enter Your Verification Code
- Check your new mobile phone number for a 4-digit verification code sent via text.
- Enter the code in the app.
- Tap Verify.
- Didn't receive a code? Tap Resend.
Once verified, you'll see the Phone Number Updated! confirmation screen. Your phone number has been updated and you can log in with your new phone number right away. 🎉
